Theoreticall the American system is the MKS system (Meter-Kilogram-Second system). However, practically they use the FPS (Foot-Pound-Second system).
The SI system
The first standardized system of measurement was used by the ancient Egyptians around 3000 BC. They developed a system based on body parts such as the cubit and the palm for length measurements.
The US measurement system is based on the English system, or imperial units, though England has now long since converted to SI.
The measurement system is in milliliters. Gallons are British (the Imperial system of measurement), or, slightly smaller, American. Gallons are not part of the metric system, thus are not measures in millilitres.
Much the same as many of us in the UK still do. We are used to the Imperial system for everyday things; but the legally-recognised international system for trade, and the international system for science, is the Metric, or more properly, its derivative the SI, system. (System Internationale).
Given that only Liberia and Burma officially share the US measurement system, it can hardly be described as universal!
Most of the world uses the metric system for measurement.
standard Amrica is the only country to use starand measurent
generally the imperial system
America uses the customary units f measurement.
The azimuth system is used to establish an origin point and a measurement.
the metric system is used
Metric system. :)
We're Americans.
Square measurement
Imperial measurement is in general use. Engineers, scientists etc use the SI system.
the si system of measurement is the standard set of units accepted throughout the world.
