I don't know where people get these things. A dime is NOT a cm across. Not even close, it's about 1.8 cm. A nickel is just over 2 cm across, and a penny is just short of a cm. Put them together, edge to edge, and they're almost EXACTLY 4 cm (slight over).

A nickel is very close to 2 mm thick (1.95 mm). By the way, it weighs exactly 5 grams, and a penny, 2.5 g.

A staple is 1 cm across. So is my pinky finger nail. An M&M. AAA batteries are 1 cm across.
