We use Atomic Mass unit (amu) to measure the mass of an atom. 1 amu is equal to 1/12 th the mass of carbon-12 atom.

1 amu = 1.660 * 10^ -27 Kg.

General units like Kg, pound and ounce are too big.

Note- * means multiply, ^ raised to the power

What do scientists use to measure the mass of the particles within an atom?

Scientists use a unit called atomic mass unit (amu) to measure the mass of particles within an atom. This unit is based on the mass of a proton or neutron, and it helps scientists compare the mass of different atoms accurately.

What is the difference between atomic mass and relative atomic mass?

Atomic mass is the measure of a mass of one atom in relation to 1/12 mass of Carbon 12 atom and measured in atomic mass unit(amu) or Dalton unit or grams/mol.Relative atomic mass is also the relative mass but does not have a unit but a ratio number.

What is the mass of the atom is so small that there is a measure calles the atomic?

The mass of an atom is so small that there is a unit called the atomic mass unit (amu) used to express it. One atomic mass unit is roughly equal to the mass of a proton or neutron, which are the subatomic particles found in the nucleus of an atom. This unit is convenient for expressing the mass of atoms without dealing with very small numbers.
