There is A difference, STONE (Plural is Also STONE NOT STONES), is a Unit of MASS that is commonly used in the U.K. when speaking about one's body weight (e.g. I am 12 Stone 5 Pounds).

1 (ONE) STONE = EXACTLY 14 (FOURTEEN) POUNDS. There is NO division required as a Pound is the SMALLER unit of the STONE, as the Centimeter is the SMALLER unit of the Meter (you would say there is EXACTLY 100 Centimeters in a Meter, NOT there is ROUGHLY/Approximately 100 Centimeters in a Meter).

So 1 STONE = 14 POUNDS EXACTLY (Just like saying 1 METER = 100 CENTIMETERS EXACTLY)

THEREFORE to find out HOW MANY POUNDS 7 STONE EQUALS, YOU JUST MULTIPLY THE NUMBER OF STONE BY 14.

7 STONE = 98 POUNDS

The Previous Poster Had it MOSTLY RIGHT, He Said:

"STONE: British Imperial unit of weight; still oft used in the UK. One (1) stone translates roughly to 14 pounds (lbs) or 6.36 kilogram (kg).

A 7-stone package weighs approximately 98 lbs / 44.5 kg."
