the notion that the earth was the centre of the solar system (and indeed the universe) was an assumption by ancient civilisations and all scientists seem to have agreed with this idea until Galileo Galilei noticed that this was not the case and published his idea but it was not instantly accepted because the bible was based on ancient ideas and as a result the roman catholic church attempted to stop the spread of this idea because it dissagreed with many of the verses in The Bible.
it was probaly this assumption that everything in the bible was true that made it take so long for anyone to think to question it.
it is worth noting that Galileo was a devout catholic and was not trying to challenge the church.
Nicolaus Copernicus!
No one .. It was the other way around the church taught that bull.. I believe it was Copernicus that said the sun was the center of the solar system and for fear of the church didn't publish his work till the end of his life
Nicolaus Copernicus first said that but when he did at first no one believed him until sometime after his death.
That is correct. The sun is at the center of our solar system, and all the planets, including Earth, orbit around it due to its gravitational pull. This model is known as the heliocentric system, proposed by Copernicus in the 16th century.
Heliocentric means having the Sun as the center, such as in the heliocentric model of the solar system where the planets orbit around the Sun. This model replaced the geocentric model, in which Earth was believed to be the center of the universe.

Scientists
Well the sun is in the center of our solar system. People have said that in about 5 billion years the sun will dime and that it will expand and eat Mercury and Venus and that Earth will have to much heat.
Geocentric model that was prevalent in the middle ages said that the Earth was in the center of the solar system (in fact of the universe) and all other planets revolved around it. Modern science says that in the solar system the Sun is at the center and all its planets revolve around it.

If you ask anyone he'll say Nicolas Copernicus, but about 1500 years ago Indian Master of Astronomy and Mathematics, Aryabhtta claimed that the Earth revolves around the sun and that the sun is the center of the solar system.
The scientist who proposed that celestial bodies in our solar system must have opposite spins in order to explain their current rotational directions was Sir James Jeans. This idea became known as the "cosmic twinning hypothesis."
This is an ongoing study, but it has been said that there has been sightings of another planet in the solar system.
