There have been times when his archrival, Vegeta, has gone past him or equaled him, but Goku is always deemed stronger in the end. During the Android Saga, when Vegeta begins his battle with Android 19, one of the Z Fighters asks Piccolo whether Vegeta is stronger than Goku, and Piccolo answers that he very well may be.
