Most plastics will allow the ice to slide. The problem is letting air into the bottom to allow the ice to release from the bucket.

  • Drill a hole
  • Tape it over ..........Afraid water will leak into the freezer before it has a chance to freeze.
  • Rip off the tape when the ice is to be removed
  • Heat the walls of the bucket to melt the ice just a little

Using a silicone spray or food-grade silicone lubricant on the inside of the bucket before adding the water can help the ice slide out easily once frozen. This creates a thin layer of non-stick surface that reduces friction between the ice and the bucket. Additionally, using flexible silicone or plastic buckets can make it easier to push the ice out once frozen.
