2 cups divided by 3 is 2/3 of a cup. if you take one cup and divide it by three, you get 1/3 of a cup if you take another cup and divide it by three, you another 1/3 of a cup add those together and that makes 2/3 cup very useful in baking when you can't use a calculator :)
