Why are all multiples of 3 odd and even?

The multiples of all odd numbers are odd and even. Odd x odd = odd. Odd x even = even. Since odd and even numbers alternate, the multiples will alternate as well.

Why aren't all odd numbers divisible by 3?

Because not all odd numbers are multiples of 3 - I have shown you below that this is the case and you can see some multiples of 3 are even and some are odd and you can also see that there are even and odd numbers BETWEEN the multiples of 3. 1 (odd) 2 (even) 1*3 =3 (odd) 4 (even) 5 (odd) 2*3 = 6 (even) 7 (odd) 8 (even) 3*3 = 9 (odd) 10 (even) 11 (odd) 4*3 = 12 (even)

Are all multiples of 3 odd?

Why does five have even and odd multiples?

That happens because 5 is an odd number. An odd number times an odd number will give you an odd product; an odd number times an even number will give you an even product. The same happens for the multiples of any other odd number.

What number has a remainder of 1 when divided by 6 and a remainder of 2 when divided by 8?

No number can satisfy these conditions: To have a remainder of 1 when divided by 6, the number must be odd (as all multiples of 6 are even and an even number plus 1 is odd) To have a remainder of 2 when divided by 8, the number must be even (as all multiples of 8 are even and an even number plus 2 is even) No number is both odd and even. → No number exists that has a remainder of 1 when divided by 6, and 2 when divided by 8.

Odd numbers with a multiple of 3 and not a factor of 8?

What are even integers?

The even integers are whole number multiples of 2. They include ...-8,-6,-4,-2,0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20... They include all numbers ending in 0,2,4,6 or 8. The other integers are odd integers. They are numbers that are not integer multiples of 2.

Is 217 divisble by 8?

No. 217 is an odd number; 8 is an even number, all multiples of even numbers are even numbers. Thus 217 cannot be a multiple of 8 (or to put it another way: 217 is not divisible by 8).
