The reason has to do with how blood flows through the body, and blood pressure. When lying down, blood pressure to the brain is fairly low, since there is less pressure required to pump blood to the brain in a horizontal body - it's not fighting gravity as the entire body is on the same level plane.
However, when a person stands up too quickly, the body doesn't have enough time to react to the rapid increase in gravity that short distance causes, and therefore doesn't have enough time to increase blood pressure flow to the brain. So the reason a person can feel dizzy is that when they stand up, there isn't enough blood flow to the brain yet - it takes a couple of seconds for the heart to catch up. It can also happen even if a person is just stiting down and stands up.
Vertical means up and down. A horizontal line goes from the left to the right (or from the right to the left) like this: ----------------------------- A horizontal line goes from a position that is low to a position that is high (or from a position that is high to a position that is low) like this: | | | | | | | | But the word "vertical" does not tell you which direction the line is drawn, just the it is a line.
The letter H has two lines of symmetry. One in the vertical position, and one horizontal position.

Horizontal is X-Axis and Vertical is Y-Axis.
Vertical.
Vertical is defined as the direction or position that is perpendicular to the plane. Horizontal is defined as to be parallel to the horizon.
Vertical means up or down, horizontal means left or right (or forward or backwards, but without changing the altitude).

This is not always true. High velocity pumps can be found in horizontal configurations too. It all depends on the application (sometimes the manufacturer) whether it will be a horizontal of vertical pump.
The pipe must be fixed (not rolled) in the horizontal position. With the pipe horizontal, the weld is vertical. The pipe being fixed requires the welder to weld flat (top), vertical (sides), and overhead (bottom). The pipe must be fixed (not rolled) in the horizontal position. You can do this by using a two coordinate designation of that position: horizontal and vertical.
Hi.. For only filmwise condensation, horizontal position gives higher condensation coefficent than verical position. In case of condensation with subcooling in a shell and tube heat exchanger, condensation coefficient is higher with horizontal postion while subcooling coefficient is higher with vertical position. kal....
Very simply (and unimaginatively), the horizontal axis or x axis and the vertical or y axis.
An "ideal" projectile trajectory ... without the influence of wind or air resistance ... is a section of a parabola. That's the figure you get when the horizontal position changes at constant speed and the vertical position changes at a speed that is itself changing at a constant rate.
Vertical is up and horizontal is across
