in your example a = 9, b = 4 and c = 5 giving:

(-4 +/- (sqrt (16 - 180))/18

This has no real solution as it involves the square root of a negative number.

If you've got your signs wrong possible solutions are:

(9x + 5)(x - 1) = 9x2 - 4x - 5

or ((9x - 5)(x + 1) = 9x2 + 4x - 5
