Step 1: Multiply the fraction by 100.

Step 2: Divide the new numerator by the denominator.

Example: Change 6/17 to a percentage.

rounding the answer to the nearest whole number. So 6/17 = 35%.

By the way, if you want to just convert the fraction to a decimal, don't bother multiplying the numerator by 100. So, in our example, 6/17 = 0.35 if we round our answer to 2 decimals.

you change a percent to a fraction by converting the fraction to a decimal (:
You put the percentage over the number 100, and see if you can simplify it. Often it is convenient to convert to an approximate fraction. For example, 33 1/3 percent = 1/3, but percentages that are nearby (for example, 32%, 33%, 34%) might also be quoted as "1/3" or "about 1/3".

The word "percent" means per one hundred.

So simply write the percentage value as a fraction over 100 and then simplify if required.

For example:

75% = 75/100 which simplifies to 3/4 (by dividing top and bottom by 25).

54% = 54/100 which simplifies to 27/50 (by dividing top and bottom by 2).

Divide numerator (top) by denominator (bottom) then move the decimal two times to the right.

Make the fraction equivalent to 100, and cross multiply and divide.

X/X = X/100.

Or divide the top number by the bottom number and move the decimal two spaces to the right.
