A parallelogram with right angles is a rectangle.

---------------------------------

To construct a right angle using a straight edge and a pair of compasses:

  1. Draw the first line
  2. Extend the first line beyond the point where the right angle is required (call this point O).
  3. With the point of the compasses on the point where the right angle is to be constructed draw a small arc on the straight line either side of point O; call the points where these arcs cross the straight line as A and B.
  4. Open the compasses to a larger width
  5. With the point of the compasses on one of points A and b (say A) draw one arc above the line roughly in the middle between points A and B (above point O).
  6. With the point of the compasses on the point of A and B (say B) draw an arc to intersect the last arc just drawn (above point O); call this point C
  7. Using the straight edge, join point O to point C, forming a right angle.
  8. rub out the extended bit of the line beyond point O that was used to construct the right angle.
