Think of the coin as a cylinder. The volume is the area of the base X the height. The area of the base is Pi X radius squared. So if you know the radius or the diameter of the coin, which you can measure, and the height which you can also measure, than PiXr2Xh will give you the volume.

The diameter of the current British 5 Pence coin is 18 mm and it is 1.7 mm thick. the volume of a 5p coin as around 26mm3 i know this because i was bored in a math lesson on the volume of cylinders and i had 5p so ye ah i done it on that

What is the volume of a 2p coin?

The answer depends on which country's currency you are referring to.

What is the formula for the volume of a quarter coin?

Coins are not cylinders. The rim of the coin is sometimes raised, as well there are depressions and peaks from the design of the coin. You should use a specific gravity test with water and a scale. bullionultrasound shows how to measure the volume of an American Gold Eagle coin using the specific gravity method, how to calculate density, etc... it's pretty informative. According to The United states Mint website, a US quarter is 24.26 mm in diameter and the thickness of the coin is 1.75 millimeters. To find the area of a circle the formula is pi*r^2 so the face of a quarter has an area of pi*(24.26/2)2 = 462.244204 mm2. To then find the volume we multiple the area of the face by the thickness, so the volume is 462.244204 * 1.75 or pi * (24.26/2)2 * 1.75= 808.927357mm3. So the volume of a us quarter is about 808.93 mm3. This does not take into account the ridging on the edge of the coin or the printing on the face.

How do you find out the density of a coin?

To find out the density of a coin, you would first measure its mass using a scale, and then measure its volume using displacement method or by calculating the volume based on its dimensions. The density of the coin can be calculated by dividing the mass by the volume.

Why does the ship floats while a coin sinks?

because a ship has big volume and a coin has small volume hence the smaller the area the bigger the pressure, the smaller the area the big the volume

What is the volume of a one pound coin?

A pound coin is 2.25 cm in diameter and 3.15mm thick. Therefore the volume of a pound coin is 1252.5 cubic millimetres or approx. 1.25 cubic centimetres.

What is th mass and volume of a coin?

The mass and volume of a coin can vary depending on its material, size, and denomination. For example, a U.S. quarter typically has a mass of about 5.67 grams and a volume of around 0.807 cubic centimeters.

What is the volume of a pure silver coin that has a mass of 16.0?

The volume of the coin can be calculated using its density, which is approximately 0.379 cm^3/g for pure silver. With a mass of 16.0 g, the volume of the coin would be 16.0 g / 0.379 cm^3/g = 42.2 cm^3.

What is the formula for finding the volume of a copper?

If you refer to a copper coin, simply place it in a measuring glass of water and work out the difference between the start and final volumes; that is the volume of the coin.

How can you determined that a coin is not pure silver if you know the mass and the volume of the coin?

You can determine if a coin is not pure silver by calculating its density and comparing it to the known density of pure silver. If the calculated density of the coin does not match that of pure silver, then it is not pure silver. Density can be calculated by dividing the mass of the coin by its volume.
