The vertical line is right there, on most keyboards; the location may vary, though. You'll probably need to press Shift with the corresponding key. I use the "US-International" keyboard layout; it is two positions to the right of the semicolon, but I also need to press Shift to get that symbol. In the normal US keyboard it may be in the same position; I am not sure, but just look for a vertical bar.
The absolute value of -18 is 18. Absolute values make all digits inside its lines positive.
the absolute value of 93 is 93. All ou have to do to figure this out is make the number you are given weather it is posative or negative and make it a posative. (ex. -37, absolute value is 37.)
The absolute value of the opposite of x is x. The absolute value is the number's distance from zero on a number line. Distance can not be negative, so basically, to find the absolute value of a number you just need to make it positive. The opposite of x is -x. |-x|=x - you make the x positive Of course, if x, to begin with, represents a negative (less than zero) number than the absolute value would be -x. For example if x=-3, the opposite value of x would be 3 and the absolute value of x would also be 3 which happens to be -x.
Because when you find the absolute value you're finding the distance a number is from zero without considering its sign (+ or -). You just have to make the number positive.
you don't need to make them. Just solve the problem, then ignore whether its negative or positive, and you have your answer.

Many programs will autocorrect (c) to the copyright symbol. Otherwise, you can insert a symbol from the keyboard map. In Microsoft Word, for example, select "Symbol" from the "Insert" menu.
