anyway, let's take this example:

3 x 4/12. First, if possible, we simplify the problem. In this case, the fraction can simplify into 1/3.

our problem looks like this: 3x1/3

To make it easier, we make the whole number have a 1 underneath it.

3/1 x 1/3 (3/1 is exactly the same as 3) now we multiply the tops and the bottoms together.

3x1 = 3, and 1x3 = 3 so our problem looks like this 3/3. 3 divided by 3 is 1. So 3x4/12 = 1 and that is how you do it. Hope i helped!
