It depends on what you're asking. Is gr a gram or is gr a grain?

There are 1000 mg in a gram - hence the prefix milli.

There are approx. 60 mg in a grain measurement. I say approx. because the actual formula of grain to gram conversion works out to be about 10 millionths behind the decimal so it rounds to 0.060 gram or 60 mg!
