Let's say that X is the quantity of mosquitoes for the first night. So every night will be 25 more mosquitoes than night before:

X: night 1

X+25: night 2

(X+25)+25: night 3

((X+25)+25)+25: night 4

The total for 4 nights is: 1050

So,

X + (X+25) + ((X+25)+25) + (((X+25)+25)+25) = 1050

4X + 150 = 1050

4X = 1050 - 150 = 900

X = 225

And replacing:

night 1: 225

night 2: 250

night 3: 275

night 4: 300
