The frequency of any note is twice the frequency of the same note an octave below. Middle C is 261.625 Hertz
so k octaves higher is 261.625*2k
and k octaves lower is 261.625-k.
You can work with that. I don't know what precalculus is - we did not waste time with such things when I was a student - along with other dinosaurs! Then, you either studied calculus or you didn't! End of! That means I don't know what level you are at.
But you might be able to develop: if the human ear can make out 20 to 20,000 Hertz, what are the lowest and highest Cs that can be heard?
