Well, isn't that just a happy little question! A perfect number is one where all its factors (except itself) add up to the number itself. Unfortunately, 48 is not a perfect number because the sum of its factors (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24) equals 76, not 48. But hey, every number is special in its own way!

No, it is not. If you take the numbers that divide evenly into 48 and add them together, they do not equal 48 (which defines a perfect number) (The number itself is excluded, as it would obviously make all numbers but 1 non perfect).
Proof:
1 + 2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 12 + 16 + 24 = 73 =/= 48
