what kind of Transmission Fluid does a 96 jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 liter i-6 and an automatic transmission use (Detron III, ATF III, ATF 4,ETC,)?
If you pull out your transmission dipstick the info you need will be on there. ATF+4
BMW recommends that the ATF does not need to be changed in the 320i.
You will need to find a Class III FFL dealer. They will order the gun for you. ATF form 4 will need to be filled out. If ATF approves the form 4 then the dealer will transfer ownership to you and charge you the 200 dollar tax stamp. Please correct me if I'm incorrect or my info is outdated.
It takes ATF the only thing you need to decide it regular ATF or Synthetic ATF. I recommend The Synthetic ATF. Hope This Helps.

No, it does not. If you want to the ATF level then it needs to be running.
ATF SP.III is listed for that vehicle no need to be all technical, it is dexron 3
Atf+3, but atf+4 is the new stuff out that replaces it.
No you cannot. You can go forwards but not backwards. You can put ATF 3 or 4 in a transmission that originally called for AFT2. But not the other way. ATF 2 doesn't contain the lubricants and conditioners of the newer ATF's and the transmissions need those additives to function properly.
ATF+4
If you can smell hot ATF it is probably leaking from somewhere and getting all over the exhaust. Look very carefully for any leaks. It could be dripping from the seal around the transmission pan or more commonly out the axel.
