It depends on the values of the negatives. if the second number has larger magnitude the answer is positive if not it remains negative.

i.e. -3 - (-4) = -3 + 4

= 1

but -3 - (-2) = -3 + 2

= -1

It could be either a negative or a positive. It is like adding a positive.

(-4) - (-2) = (-2)

(-4) - (-5) = 1
