A cool way to calculate the multiples of nine on your fingers is as follows. For example, what if you wanted to know Nine times four...

1.) Hold up hands with all ten fingers extended;

2.) Lower the FOURTH finger from the left (the index finger on the left hand);

3.) Notice how there are 3 fingers still extended to the left of the lowered finger;

4.) Notice how there are 6 fingers still extended to the right of the lowered finger;

5.) You now have your answer. 36 !

The multiples of nine are as follows:

9 is 9 x 1

18 is 9 x 2

27 is 9 x 3

36 is 9 x 4

45 is 9 x 5

54 is 9 x 6

63 is 9 x 7

72 is 9 x 8
