ab = 800 therefore b = 800/a

And, a - b = 7

Substituting for b we have, a - (800/a) = 7

Multiplying throughout by a gives : a2 - 800 = 7a

Which we can write as, a2 - 7a - 800 = 0

Which factors as, (a - 32)(a + 25) = 0

Just taking the positive number solution when (a - 32) = 0, that is a =32 and so b = 25........and these are the two required numbers.
