mathematics is easy except you got to put your mind and strength into it....like i do really love it and i practice math because i know that later on in life am going to need it.....so guess what im trying to say is that if you think that you are really bad at math ,just say in your mind that you can do it,you know a lot of people pass all their life saying that the only thing they really know about math is 1+1....but they see in one period of their life, which is actually too late...but they realize that they are capable of doing much more thatn what they thought they could.

'Math(s)' is the shortened word for 'Mathematics'. The word 'mathematics' comes from Classical Greece, and means 'to learn'.
1. First you need to learn how to learn advanced mathematics. Learning mathematics can be challenging without a good foundation on how to learn mathematics. A good book to read before starting is "How to Learn Advanced Mathematics" by Nicholas DeWaal. (See www.discoveringmath.com) 2. Once you learn how to learn, then all you have to do is begin reading textbooks in advanced mathematics starting first with lower level prerequisites such as basic logic, set theory, linear algebra and calculus. Schaum's outlines of these subject tend to be easier to read. 3. After learning the basics in step (2), you are ready to learn more advanced subjects such as topology, real analysis, number theory, differential equations etc.
For most school mathematics, negative numbers do not have square roots. This is because a negative number multiplied by itself is a negative times a negative and so is positive. When (if) you study advanced mathematics, you will learn that there is a solution and this falls within the realms of complex mathematics and imaginary numbers.
Pure Mathematics is the branch of mathematics that deals only with mathematics and how it works - it is the HOW of mathematics. It is abstracted from the real world and provides the "tool box" of mathematics; it includes things like calculus. Applied mathematics is the branch of mathematics which applies the techniques of Pure Mathematics to the real world - it is the WHERE of mathematics; it includes things like mechanics. Pure Mathematics teaches you HOW to integrate, Applied mathematics teaches you WHERE to use integration.
Mathematics is a "language" unto itself and like any foreign language, you need to learn the basics before you can advance to the more difficult levels. You might want to take after-school tutoring from your teacher or other student with good math skills. Also, there are websites that have different math levels that you might want to visit to learn more.
