Consecutive numbers are those which lie as closely as possible to each other on the number line.

Odd numbers are those numbers which cannot be evenly divided by 2.

Examples of consecutive odd numbers:

1, 3

5, 7, 9

225, 227

Another method

An odd number, N, can be produced by plugging any non-negative integer into the following equation (in place of x):

N = 2x+1

Giving consecutive values for x will also produce consecutive odd numbers:

x = 1 -> N = 3

x = 2 -> N = 5

x = 3 -> N = 7

etc.
