It's well, the range of a number set. I know this doesn't explain much but here: The numbers in this set are {1,3,5,6,8,10} The range would be 1-10....I hope this sheds at least a little light on things :)

================================================

When discussing functions, the range is the set of numbers into which the domain of the function maps.

For example, let's take the function y=x2.

The domain is all the allowable values for x.

The ramge is all the values of y.

In this case, we can allow x to be any real number.

But y will only be the set of non-negative real numbers if x is restricted to the real numbers. This because x2 is always non-negative for any real value of x.
