To multiply 45 times 56:

  1. Line up the the numbers in a multiplication equation (45x56 vertical, line under the equation)
  2. Multiply from the 56's ones place first, so 6x5=30. Put the 3 in 30 in subscript somewhere where you'll see it & leave the 0. 6x4=24, add 24+3=27, your first row is 270.
  3. For your second row, you've already used your ones place, so put a zero in your ones place under 270. Now you're multiplying the tens place. 5x5=25, move the 2 somewhere and keep the 5. 5x4=20, 20+2=22. Your second row should be 2250.
  4. Add- 270+2250=2520. Your final answer is 2520.
