"Parallel" refers to the relationship between two lines, not to a single line. Two lines are said to be parallel, or one line is parallel TO ANOTHER, if they are in the same plane, and are always at the same distance from each other, that is, as you move along one line, the distance to the other line is always the same - they don't cross, or get away from one another.
Perpendicular Lines are two or more lines that will intersect (come together) at some point along their paths. Paralell lines are 2 or more lines that will never intersect at any point in their paths.
yes it can. a diamond is basically a square. if you stretch two paralell lines opposite each other on a square one way, you would get a diamond. if you don't get that, just rotate the square a little bit and voila! a parralell diamond!
