e is the base of the natural logarithm, a fundamental constant. It is an irrational number approximately equal to 2.7181281828459. e is the most important constant in mathematics. It is transcendental, meaning it is not a root of any polynomial with integer coefficients. It is defined as 1 + 1 + 1/2! + 1/3! + 1/4! + . . . e can also be defined as the limit of (1+1/n)^n as n goes to infinity.
