They were performing a prefrontal lobotomy through the perioccular orbit. In this procedure an ice-pick like tool is inserted into the brain and moved around to "disrupt" the brain. It was a barbaric medical procedure popular in Europe and the US in the 40s and 50s. Egad Moniz, the Spanish (or Portuguese) neurosurgeon who developed this "technique" won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for this. Lobotomies were used to calm violent mentally ill patients, as well as not so violent patients. It was terrible period in medicine that thankfully was interrupted by common sense, scientific inquiry and the development of neuroleptic drugs.

The vertical cross section of a right vertical cone is a triangle if that cross section is taken from the vertex. Any other vertical cross section will reveal a hyperbola (with endpoints on the base of the cone). A link can be found below.

The cross-section of a cuboid is unified in the shape of a square or a rectangle.
length = volume/cross-section

It is a rectangle.
They are all circles. The vertical and horizontal have the same radius as the ball while the angled cross section has a smaller radius.
a circle !
It is a triangle.
Oh, dude, a pentagon prism has five vertical lines. It's like a pentagon, but all fancy and 3D. So, yeah, five vertical lines doing their thing, holding up the pentagon party.
That is called a cross-section.
If horizontal, a circle. If vertical, a semi-circle.
A unit cross-section, as defined by the SI system of measurement, is 1 metre2. So a column of air is all the air in a vertical column whose cross sectional area is 1 m2. The exact shape of the cross section is not defined but it is normally circular or a square.A unit cross-section, as defined by the SI system of measurement, is 1 metre2. No. Some of the classic curves studied by mathematicians: ellipses, hyperbola are cross sections of a cone taken at an angle.
