In order to get a quarter of 28 (1/4) you divide 28 by 4 (4 being the divider) and then you multiply it by 1. This will give you 7. OK! Here some sample bits to hopefully help you along a bit.

If we use the same number (28) and we want to get 3 quarters of this (3/4), you would do the same as above. Divide by 4, then multiply by 3. This then will give you 21, agreed?

Something totally different, if you wanted to get 7/16 (read seven sixteenth) of 154, you would actually do the same thing, divide 154 by 16 which results in 9.625 and multiply this by 7. Which gives you 67.375.

In case you did not know this 2/4 is 1/2, 8/16 is 1/2, 32/64 is 1/2. Mainly because of the fact that if you divide 4 by 2 is 2, 16 divided by 8 is 2, 64 divided by 32 is 2.
