Don't shy away from fractions. If someone asks for 1/10 of a number, you are being asked to divide that number by 10. So, 1/10 of 300 = 300/10. 300/10 = 30. In other words, if you write 30 on a piece of paper 10 times and add it together, you'll get 300! Let's try another one. 1/10 of 16450 = 16450/10. 1/10 of 16450 = 1645.
