In order to solve a math problem with different denominators(the bottom digit of a fraction) you first must change both fractions to have the same denominator. In order to find the same denominator, you must find what is known as the least common multiple of each denominator. The least common multiple of 3 and 4 is twelve. So you must multiply each fraction to get the denominator the same.

4/12+3/12= 7/12
