1 dimension would just be lines in 1 dimension with no width or no length. You wouldn't be able to see it. Pictures on paper are in 2 dimensions. Models in space are in 3 dimensions.

What you are looking for are driven dimensions. Derived dimensions must be a typo. Driven dimensions are enclosed in parentheses to distinguish them from regular dimensions in inventor. These dimensions do not contrain a sketch they simply reflect dimensioned geometry which is most likely under some geometric constraint.

"How to determine" is correct. The "to" is part of the infinitive form, "to determine". "Determining" is the present participle form and cannot follow "to", so "how to determining" is incorrect.
