It suggests a supreme being designed much of the world as it is in animals, humans, trees, etc. The difficult answer is: "In mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio (φ) if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one" (Wikipedia). The number that shows up again and again is 1.61803... Artists and architects started using it for aesthetics and strength of design.
