Oh, dude, we're talking about converting quarts to gallons here. So, 8 quarts is equal to 2 gallons, right? And 2 gallons to 4 gallons is like, 2 to 4, which simplifies down to 1 to 2. So, the ratio 8 qt to 4 gal in lowest terms is 1:2.
It's 57 to 33.
If the question is: What is the ratio of high gloss paint to flat paint sold, the answer is 57:33.
From what I've read you need one gallon of paint to cover between 300 to 400 sq. ft. If you are not going dramatically from one color to another (light to light), then you can probably get away with 1 gallon to 400 sq. ft. However if you are going from a dark to light color, then you should do you calculations with the one gallon to 300 sq. ft. ratio or even less. So, if you're going from light to light you're going to need a minimum of 2 1/2 gallons ( I don't believe you can get a 1/4 gallon of paint) of paint to cover 900 sq. ft. If you are going from a dark to a light then you are going to need a minimum of 3 gallons of paint. I would consult this with an associate at the store though or a professional painter. The ratio of blue to white paint can vary depending on the desired shade of blue. A common starting point is a 1:2 ratio, meaning for every part of blue paint, you would use two parts of white paint. If you used 1 cup of blue paint, you would mix it with 2 cups of white paint. Adjust the ratio to achieve your preferred hue.
