4.10 . . . make sure to leave the zero on the end. Observation from Rafaelrz. I question myself. When asking for the nearest 1 hundredth, is it the hundredth of the quantity (4.09) that it is referred to ? or the hundredth of the units handled ? Im inclined to believe that it refers to the second, in which case a one hundredth of the unit is 0.01, and so the quantity 4.09 is already given with a precision of one hundredth. No rounding of the quantity is required. By this reasoning, the rounding of 4.09 to 4.10 is a rounding to the nearest tenth and the zero has to be taken out to write 4.1, a quantity with a second order of magnitude or two two digit precision.
