what kind of correlation would you expect to find between a city's annual and the size of its population
Correlation determines relationship between two variables. For example changes in one variable influence another variable, we can say that there is a correlation between the two variables. For example, we can say that there exists a correlation between the number of hours spent on reading and preparation and the scores obtained in the examination. One can infer that higher the amount of time spent on preparation may result in better performance in examination leading to higher scores. Hence the above is a case of positive correlation. If an increase in independent variable leads to an increase in dependent variable, it is a case of positive correlation. On the other hand if an increase in independent variable leads to a reduction in dependent variable, it is a case of negative correlation. An example for negative correlation could be the relationship between the age advancement and resistance to diseases. As age advances, resistance to disease reduces.
An example of weak positive correlation would be the relationship between the amount of time spent studying for a test and the grade achieved. While there may be a slight increase in grades as study time increases, the correlation is not very strong. This means that studying more does not guarantee a significantly higher grade, but there is still a positive trend between the two variables.
There are an infinite amount of numbers between them, with 0.75 being halfway between them.
300,000,000 or Three hundred million (roughly the population of the USA).
There are an infinite amount of answers to that. 0.85 is exactly halfway between them.
Negative correlation, for two reasons. 1. People do not like to live in very cold places (think of the population near the Poles). 2. Population centres are hot spots due to man-made structures and activities. Buildings and roads absorb and retain heat more than nature. This micro-climate results in less snowfall (it melts before settling).

There is obviously a correlation between population numbers and the amount of fuels used. Many of which release CO2 into the atmosphere. CO2, after water vapour, being the main contributor to the greenhouse effect. The exact amount of change caused by over population is very difficult to calculate.
Yes
A Pearson correlation measures the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two continuous variables, ranging from -1 (perfect negative correlation) to 1 (perfect positive correlation). An example could be studying the correlation between the amount of rainfall and crop yield in agricultural research to understand how variations in rainfall affect crop productivity.
This relationship is called the correlation between the amount of drivers education students have and the number of accidents they have. A positive correlation indicates that more education leads to fewer accidents, while a negative correlation would suggest the opposite.
There has been no definitive evidence that genetic modification of wheat causes an increase in celiac disease. However, there is a correlation between celiac disease and the amount of wheat ingested in a population.

The correlation between the amount of neurons and intelligence found in the frontal lobe of the brain is option C: .45. This suggests a moderate positive relationship where an increase in the amount of neurons is associated with higher intelligence levels.
