10 dam = 10 x 10 m = 100 m = 1 hm (1 hectometre) = 0.1 km = 1000 dm (decimetre) = 10000 cm = 100000 mm

With appropriate multiplication/division, other metric prefixes can be used, eg

10 dam = 0.0001 Mm (mega metres) = 100000000 µm (micro metres), etc.
