"Unit used" basically means, what you are measuring in. For example, if you are figuring out the distance between New Your and Miami, you don't use pounds, you use miles. "Miles," is the unit used. Typical units is middle school, high school, and basic college mathematics might include inches, centimeters, feet, meters, and other forms of distance measurement; or, seconds, hours, minutes, and other forms of time measurement. You might also find an answer like "60 cells" or "90 Miles per hour." Sometimes there is no unit listed, so you just write "20 square units" or "seventeen units" to show you understand that the answer is a measurement of something.

Hg could refer to hectogram, a measurement unit which is rarely used outside of school mathematics.
You divide a metre by 1000. Other powers of ten will be used to convert other metric units to kilometres but outside of school maths, nobody in their right mind will measure the distance across town in millimetres, or the distance to the next town in metres!

-- Measure the length of the piece. -- Using a pencil, write the measurement on paper. -- Using skills taught in elementary school, divide the measurement by 2 . (Alternatively, multiply the measurement by 0.5 .) -- Using the result of your calculation, measure that length from either end of the piece.
Do it in feet usually but do it in meters
