It is probably very difficult to find ROMPER ROOM footage from 1969. To save money, a common practice in television production in those days was to wipe the tapes and reuse them. Therefore you would be very lucky to find Romper Room footage from that era. There may be some small amounts in the Australian National Film and Sound Archives. Many early episodes of YOUNG TALENT TIME were also lost due to this practice. I guess, no one back then thought they would be valuable television history....

Where did they tape romper room?

This is not a simple question to answer. It depends which version of ROMPER ROOM you were watching as a child. ROMPER ROOM was a pre-school children's program (and a successful international franchise) created by Bert and Nancy Claster. It was originally produced in Baltimore, Ohio, in 1953 and Nancy Claster (Miss Nancy) was the very first Romper Room hostess. Becasue it became an international franchise, there were very many locally produced ROMPER ROOM's around the world. In the US, ROMPER ROOM screened from 1953 to 1994. ROMPER ROOM was also produced at various times in Australia, Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Here in Australia, ROMPER ROOM was first produced at ATN-7 (Channel Seven) Sydney in February 1963. It was hosted by Miss Susan. It was closely followed by QTQ-9 (Channel Nine) in Brisbane who began production of ROMPER ROOM in October 1963. This program was hosted by Miss Patricia (Patrica Godfrey) Other Australian Stations that produced local versions of ROMPER ROOM during the 1960s and 1970s include SAS -10 (now SAS-7) in Adelaide with Miss Michele, ATV-0 (now ATV-10) Melbourne with Miss Colleen, TVW7-Perth with Miss Claire and NBN-3 Newcastle with Miss Anne, Miss Louise, and finally Miss Kim. By 1974 it became to expensive for Freemantle International to continue to produce so many versions of ROMPER ROOM for the Australian audience. The ATN-7 version recorded in Sydney became the national ROMPER ROOM program that was screened through out Australia on the Channel 7 Network. Miss Patricia (Patricia Godfrey)from the Brisbane ROMPER ROOM took over from Miss Susan as hostess with the change. Miss Helena (Helena Bailey) became the national ROMPER ROOM hostess, taking over from Miss Patricia in 1979. Miss Megan took over from Miss Helena in 1987 and continued on as hostess until the show was axed in 1988. Miss Patricia (Patricia Godfrey) is Australias longest serving Romper Room hostess, having worked on the program for 16 years.
