Two choices: -- Multiply (the number) x (the percent using the percent % key). -- Multiply (the number) x (the percent), then divide the answer by 100. Either way, the claculator displays that many percent of that number.
On my calculator it is the same key as the log key, but you have to press the "Shift" key first. It is shown as 10â– .

You can use it to figure out many things. One example would be to figure out how much a sale item will save you. Say your item is $25 but is on sale for 5 percent off. take 25 and minus 5 then hit the percent key. Another example would be for sales tax. If your tax is 5 percent and your buying something for $25 take the 25 and times it by 5 and hit the percent key. That will tell you how much to add to the $25
