Cristian Goldbach, is the man who created the goldbach conjuncture. which states: any even # greater then 2 is equal to the sum of 2 prime numbers. as far as i know this has yet to be proven/disproven. which is suprising because he lived hundreds of years ago. i am currently studying his theory. i feel i am close to disproving it.
20 (which is an even # greater then 2)=7+13 (which are both prime #s)
Uncle Fester (Uncle Fizziks)
2+14=16
Goldbach's Conjecture is that every even number greater than two can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers. For example, 4 = 2 + 2, 6 = 3 + 3, 8 = 5 + 3, 10 = 7 + 3, 12 = 7 + 5, etc. Although the conjecture has been checked up to very large values and many weaker results have been proved, the conjecture remains open. Because it is so well-known and easily understood, it is frequently the subject of mistaken "proofs" by amateur mathematicians.

it was important because it hasn't been solved
Goldbach's conjecture says that every even number greater than two can be expressed as the sum of 2 primes. If 30 could not be expressed as the sum of two primes, then this would disprove the conjecture. As it is, 30 can be expressed as the sum of two primes. You can express it as 11+19. Thus, Goldbach's conjecture holds in this case.
