Aristarchus of Samos was the first person (that we know of!) that proposed a heliocentric model of the universe, as early as about 200B.C). His model was rejected mainly because of Aristotle's influence.Copernicus was the next person to propose a heliocentric model of the universe which was published in 1547. although very controversial at that time, this model was the one that caught on.
HE was the first astronomer to figure out the earth wasn't the center of the universe the sin was it was the heliocentric theory
While many say it was capernicus I think it was actually " Aristarchus" a couple hundred years before Capernicus.
It was the first theory that said that the universe does not revolve around the Earth; instead we revolve around the sun. It discredited many people's theories and modern belief at the time. It is also the proven theory that we believe in today.
Copernicus used perfect circles for the orbits of the planets.
Aristarchus
The Ptolemaic system placed Earth at the center of the universe, with other celestial bodies orbiting around it, while the Heliocentric system, proposed by Copernicus, placed the Sun at the center with planets, including Earth, orbiting around it. The Ptolemaic system was geocentric, while the Heliocentric system was heliocentric.
Aristarchus of Samos was the Greek scientist who first proposed a heliocentric view of the universe, suggesting that the Earth revolves around the Sun. This idea was revolutionary for its time and laid the foundation for later heliocentric models developed by Copernicus and Galileo.
Copernicus
The heliocentric, or Sun-centered, system was first theorized by Nicolaus Copernicus.

Nicolaus Copernicus
The heliocentric theory was originated by Copernicus.
I don't know who or what coperniculus is, but Copernicus was an astronomer cited as the creator of the first workable heliocentric model of the universe.

The heliocentric view of the universe was first proposed by the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus in the 16th century. He published his model in the book "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" in 1543, suggesting that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun.
