Pi is called pi (no 'e') as it is the first letter of the Greek word "περιφέρεια" (Periphery) or "περίμετρος" (perimeter) - the Greek letter 'π' transliterated into English as pi.

It's value is NOT 3.14 - 3.14 is an approximation (to 2 decimal places) to π which is infinitely long as it is an irrational number which starts 3.14159265...

It's value is the ratio between the circumference (or periphery or perimeter) of a circle to its diameter - this ratio is constant regardless of the size of the circle.
