This can be simply solved by first converting all terms into quarts 7gal=28qt+ 2qt= 30qt and 3gal=12qt+ 3qt=15 qt, next simply subtract the 2 ammounts and you are left with 15qt or 3gal 3qt. *** HINT*** 1 gallon = 4 quarts

Since there are 4 quarts per gallon,

7 gal 2 quarts = 30 Qt

3 gal 1 qt = 13 qt

therefore: 30+13

=

43 Qt

43 Qt = 10 gal with 3 remaining qts.

or, 7+3 gal=10, and 2+1qt=3

10 gal 3 qts.
