In order to reduce a fraction, you have to be able to take the same factor out of both numbers. 18 and 5 don't have any factors in common other than 1. You could take 1 out of both of them, but you'd still wind up with 18 and 5. If the GCF of the numerator and the denominator of a fraction is 1, the fraction is in its simplest form.
30/33 is not simplest form. It is 10/11.
A/88 is already in simplest form, unless you know the value of A.
what is the simplest form of six over sixteen? I need to know for homework. 3/8.
4 over 5 is in simplest form because 5 is a prime number. There is no number that you can divide both 4 and 5 by evenly to continue reducing. If the fraction was 5 over 20, you could divide both top and bottom by 5 and get 1 over 4. 5/20 = 1/4.
No 33 over 54 is not in simplest form. Simplest form is 11 over 18
