Many people simply wake up at the time they want. Any respond to the increasing brightness of the sunlight as dawn approaches, Others hear sound of a waking work - bird, traffic, animals, neighbours who are about - and respond by waking up, Some simply get hungry, thirsty or need to use the bathroom. There is nothing magic to waking without an alarm clock

They would use roosters and the sun would shine into their room causing them to wake up because of the sudden brightness.

Some of the native Americans would drink large quantity's of water before going to sleep. This would cause them to wake up relatively early in need to use the toilet. Normally though they wouldn't need to wake up early as many people were self sufficient in those days as they lived off the land and so they awoke in their own time.

What wakes you up better in the morning?

My Alarmy- Sleep If U Can app helps me to wake up early in the morning as it has a fun game task taht i need to complete in order to wake up. So all that I have to do is either "register" a room so that you have to get up and snap a picture of the room to shut the alarm, or designate the number of times you need to shake your phone before the alarm stops.

What is the history of the alarm clock?

An early prototype of the alarm clock was invented by the Greeks around 250 BC. The Greeks built a water clock where the raising waters would both keep time and eventually hit a mechanical bird that triggered an alarming whistle. The first mechanical alarm clock was invented by Levi Hutchins of Concord, New Hampshire, in 1787. However, the ringing bell alarm on his clock could ring only at 4 am. On October 24, 1876 a mechanical wind-up alarm clock that could be set for any time was patented (#183,725) by Seth E Thomas.
