You cannot since the two measurements are of different attributes.

A gram is a measure of mass whereas I assume a gram inch is a measure of displacement of mass.

------------------------

There is a problem here in that:

grams are a metric unit (of mass); whereas

inches are an imperial unit (of length).

As such, the question does not really make sense. The closest metric unit I can think of is the Joule which is the unit of energy (for work done):

1 Joule = 1 Newton metre

1 j = 1 Nm

This is derived from: work_done = force × distance

However, force is calculated by: force = mass × acceleration

The Newton is the force of a mass of 1 kg accelerating at 1 m/s²:

1 N = 1 kg × 1 m/s² = 1 kg m/s²

The "full" units of 1 Joule is thus:

1 J = 1 Nm = 1 kg m²/s²

Whatever you measure by "gram inches", gram is a unit of mass; "gram-inches" is the product of a mass and a length, so you really can't convert that.
